Moscow hails Erdogan’s tough stance on S-400 purchase

The strong stance of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems is a rare example of “sovereign and independent” policy, Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said on Sunday. Only such a position will pave the way for truly equal dialogue, he stressed. While Washington has repeatedly warned – and threatened – Ankara against buying S-400s, Turkey seems to be adamant on acquiring the anti-aircraft missile launchers. Earlier this week, Erdogan said that the S-400 systems are expected to be delivered to Turkey by July and no other country has a say in the deal between Moscow and Ankara.
