Sochi 2014 slopes ready for debut

The ski courses to be used for the Sochi 2014 Games will soon be broken in, with the World Cup stage set to give the medal hopefuls a chance to try the future Olympic slopes.

The Roza Khutor course will be tested by FIS World Cup competitors, starting from February 8.Downhill skiing and super combined are on the menu, but top women stars may be in for a surprise.“We've made some changes to the Women's downhill course,” Sergey Bachin, Roza Hutor course director, said. “As far as skiing is concerned, we've substantially remodeled the women's course.”“We basically added 400 challenging meters to the course, and that stretch should really pose a lot of problems for the female skiers in their fast downhill descent,” he stressed. Russia's Youth team will be first to try them out, before three athletes from the country compete in the senior section.
