UEFA Europa League: Chelsea and Arsenal look to cement England's dominance in Europe

UEFA Europa League: Chelsea and Arsenal look to cement England's dominance in Europe

After English clubs produced two of the most dramatic semi-finals in European football history, the attention of the football world turns to the UEFA Europa League as two more English teams look to book their place in the final.

On Tuesday night Liverpool hit four unanswered goals past a stunned Barcelona as they claimed the most incredible second-leg fightback in Champions League history.

Then, on Wednesday night, Tottenham Hotspur came back from the dead when, at 3-0 down on aggregate with just 45 minutes to go at Ajax, Lucas Moura struck an incredible second-half hat-trick to set up an all-English UEFA Champions League final.

Now, two more Premier League sides have the opportunity to double down on the English top flight's dominance of European club football by booking their respective places in the final of the other major European club competition, the UEFA Europa League.

Both sides head into tonight's second-leg ties with the advantage over their opponents. But, as we've seen already this week, you can't count anyone out until the final whistle has blown.

Here's how tonight's matches shape up:

CHELSEA VS EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

RT

How it stands: 1-1

Pedro's unstoppable strike in the first leg in Germany has given Chelsea the advantage heading into tonight's second-leg tie at Stamford Bridge.

Frankfurt took the lead in the first leg through in-form Serbian striker Luka Jovic's diving header, but Pedro's finish levelled the scores and gave Chelsea a priceless away goal to take into tonight's clash in London.

The job for Chelsea is simple. If they keep a clean sheet, a place in the final is theirs. But things will get very interesting if the Bundesliga side can grab an away goal of their own.

VALENCIA VS ARSENAL

RT

How it stands: 1-3

Arsenal's strike partnership of Alexandre Lacezette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners a significant two-goal advantage against the La Liga side.

But Valencia know that, thanks to the away goal they grabbed early in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last Thursday, a 2-0 victory over the Premier League side will seal their place in the final.

If Arsenal can score at the Mestalla, it will mean Valencia need at least three goals just to take the game into extra time.

Will the Gunners push for that goal, or look to sit tight and look to protect their lead? If they open up and attack, it should make for an entertaining clash in Spain.
