Bomb threat report briefly shuts down Patrick Air Force base in Florida

Parts of Patrick Air Force Base in central Florida were evacuated amid a bomb scare that ultimately turned out to be a false alarm. The 'all-clear' was issued around an hour after the initial report.

The bomb threat was reported around 3pm and saw the base security personnel, fire department and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) investigating the tip-off for about an hour before the all-clear was given.

It came just hours after a shooter at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida killed three people and injured eight more, before being killed in a shootout with police.

Patrick AFB is located just south of the principal US space launch facility at Cape Canaveral, on Florida’s eastern shore.
