Letter bomb blast injures 3 at Lidl headquarters in Germany
A letter bomb has exploded at the headquarters of the Lidl supermarket chain in Neckarsulm, Germany, injuring three people. It's the second such incident in two days in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
A blast rocked the company's administrative building on Wednesday when “a letter was opened,” a Lidl spokesperson told Bild.
Those hurt were rushed to hospital. One of the three sustained moderate injuries in the incident, according to local reports, while the other two escaped with light injuries.
Police spokesman, Gerald Olma, earlier told reporters that the explosion was likely caused by “a package or a letter bomb.”
In the wake of the explosion, around 100 people were evacuated from Lidl's headquarters in Neckarsulm, some 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the state's main city of Stuttgart.

There’s no information that Lidl was being blackmailed or sent threats ahead of the incident, according to local law enforcement.
The site was cordoned off while numerous police and emergency vehicles attended the scene, and a bomb disposal squad was reportedly spotted entering the building.

A police spokesperson said that a package exploded while being opened by an employee. It's understood that the person sustained minor injuries in the blast.
