Marriage of convenience as recovery after crisis

Marriage of convenience as recovery after crisis

According to Russian sociologists, about one third of all Muscovites get married for practical or financial reasons and not for love.

18 per cent of women and 30 per cent of men have confessed that they chose a marriage of convenience, according to the results of a public opinion poll held in Moscow.Experts suspect that the recent crisis forced people to opt for material advantage. However, 63 per cent answered that they got married because they wanted to spend the rest of their life with someone they love. Among other reasons given were the fear of loneliness and the desire to have a stable old age.
