Today Grozny - tomorrow the world!

ChechnyaTV’s main channel, which was founded five years ago, is now available on global satellite networks.

With nearly 200,000 Chechens living outside Russia, it thus becomes the major information outlet for the diaspora scattered around the world.

Many Chechens living abroad aren’t able to visit their homeland regularly, while some fear to return but are eager to know what’s happening there.

The channel’s aim is also to tell the truth about the republic to international viewers.
The TV station’s manger, Artur Arsanukaev, says lots of fiction has been reported about Chechnya. “So the most important thing for us is to break the stereotypes about the Chechen Republic, which were created as recently as 10 to 15 years ago,” he explains.

So far, the channel has been broadcasting in two languages, Chechen and Russian, but its director, Selim Abdulmuslimov, says the news will also be in English and Arabic in the near future.

At the moment, Chechen TV broadcasts in test transmission mode. All viewers who are able to receive it are asked to send their comments. The station says lots of messages from across the globe are coming in daily.
