Interview with Nikolay Zanegin

Nikolay Zanegin, Deputy Director of the MAKS air show, spoke to Russia Today on his impressions from MAKS 2007, and possible further improvements.

Russia Today: On the show’s closing day, can you say that it has been a total success? Does anything have to be improved for the next show, for example access for the cars?

Nikolay Zanegin: Now we can confirm this air show is quite successful. Firstly, not only due to the fact that yesterday alone we had about 300,000 visitors of different ages and professions, but because we had many business visitors during the business days. Secondly, not only Russian companies, but leading companies from all over the world attended the show.

RT: But what about the financial side of it? We’ve heard there have been multi-million-dollar contracts signed. Were those contracts in line with your expectations?

N.Z.: We can calculate that by today contracts worth more than $US 3 BLN have been signed.

RT: We see by the number of visitors that the show is getting more and more popular. What are the highlights they can look forward to at the rest of the day?

N.Z.: Today is the last public day. Yesterday we’ve had a large number of visitors here. Today we expect less people, but all the same I see about 250,000 visitors around. They are watching an outstanding air show, flying displays both of Russian and foreign pilots.
