Karadzic seeks help from Russia

Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian Serb leader, has asked Russian officials to testify on his behalf at his ongoing trial in the Hague.

Karadzic is being tried for war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for his alleged role in the Srebrenica massacre and the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war.

Karadzic's relatives claim former Russian Prime Minister Evgeny Primakov knows of an agreement with the U.S. that granted the Serb leader immunity if he left politics at the end of the war.

Russian officials previously appeared in the same court on behalf of former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.
