Abnormally warm winter 2006 causes problems

2006 has appeared to be one of the world's warmest years since records began 150 years ago. Abnormally warm winter became a matter of concern for many, as it resulted in a loss of money for some, and a lack of sleep for others.

Studies show global warming poses a serious threat to agriculture, ski resorts and the regional economies that depend on them.

Warm winters can leave gardeners and farmers without harvests for next year.

As for the winter sports and recreation industry, ski-resort owners have already seen losses this year.

Even animals which normally hibernate through winter are still awake. The same goes for human beings who may suffer from insomnia and other health problems induced by such abnormal weather conditions.
