Closure of Guantanamo facility – problem or solution?

The real problem with Guantanamo is not the facility itself but the lack of opportunities for inmates to have their cases heard in court, said military defense lawyer Eric Montalvo.

Therefore, closure of the facility is more symbolic than practical and creates new problems of placing its inmates elsewhere. One of Barack Obama's key promises when he swept into the White House was to close Guantanamo Bay by the end of his first year in office. However, less than 6 months before his self-imposed deadline the President is facing stiff opposition to the move.
