Loko crush cross-town rivals

Loko crush cross-town rivals

In the central game of the day, Lokomotiv Moscow overplayed rivals Spartak Moscow 2-1 – a great start for Loko's new coach Yury Semin.

Lokomotiv 2-1 Spartak Moscow

The Red-Whites lost out to Lokomotiv in a neck-and-neck game where both teams deserved to win. Eleven yellow and three red cards were shown at the Cherkizovo stadium on Saturday, and Loko came out as winners of this slaughter.

To the two goals by Brazilian Rodolfo and 20-year-old Russian Minchenkov Spartak responded with a shot from Brazilian Alex.

The game was the first at the helm for Loko’s old-new coach Yury Semin, who returned back to Moscow after a triumphant season at Dynamo Kiev.

Tom 2-3 Dynamo Moscow

Dynamo Moscow have gone within two points of Premier League leaders Rubin. They beat FC Tom 3-2 in their latest game to do so.

Aleksandr Kerzhakov lost no time in Tomsk. He opened the scoring with a perfectly curved free-kick just nine minutes into the game.

Three minutes later they were two up. Dmitry Kombarov slotted home from close range after an assist by brother Kirill.

With halftime approaching it was Dmitry’s turn to assist. With another defence-splitting cross Kerzhakov made it 3-0.

With a commanding lead in their pocket, Dynamo returned to the pitch more than relaxed after the break, and were made to pay for being laidback. Sergey Kornienko headed home to reduce the deficit for Tomsk halfway through the second.

A powerful penalty kick from him some ten minutes later made it 3-2, but Dynamo survived the second-half scare to claim all three points nonetheless.

Zenit 2-0 Kuban

Zenit have overplayed league newcomers Kuban in style. Russian internationals Igor Semshov and Konstantin Zyrianov fixed it at 2-0 in the first half, and well-skilled Zenit had no problem in the second by finishing it the way they wanted.

Rostov 1-1 Terek

The South Russian battle ended with a draw for middle-of-the-table Rostov and Terek. The Chechen side were one-up after the first half, but Rostov revived in the second and equalized at 53 minutes with Maksim Astafiev’s help.

Amkar 0-2 Saturn

In the first game of the weekend, held on Friday, lowly Saturn claimed their second win of the season, beating an unstable Amkar on the road.
