That’s wizard! Harry Potter-themed hotel appears in London

A hotel in Victoria, London has unveiled Hogwarts-inspired bedrooms adorned with cauldrons and spell books. Harry Potter tours of London and visits to the Warner Bros studios where the films of JK Rowling’s books were made are also laid on.

The Georgian House Hotel, built in 1851, and just down the road from Victoria station has given its rooms a magic make over to mimic the living quarters of wizard Albus Dumbledore, from the Harry Potter books.

There are two wizard chambers complete with a four poster bed, the smaller of the two costing £249 ($401) and the larger room which sleeps five, £363 ($585).

The hotel, which has been run by the same family since it was built, also offers a Harry Potter Tour Package, which includes bed and breakfast. It includes the Muggle walking tour of central London takes in various locations which inspired the author of the books JK Rowling and a trip to the Warner Bros studios in Watford for the Making of Harry Potter Tour.

“The rooms are initially inspired by the Harry Potter films, the draped four poster beds and the battered trunks for instance. But we really wanted to create a magical experience, so there are lots of original and creative touches, like a wand painted into the hand of a portrait of the Mona Lisa for example, ” Serena von der Heyde, one of the owners of the hotel told the Daily Mail.

She said that one of the main reasons for transforming the hotel was to appeal to young visitors and children.

“The Georgian House Hotel places great emphasis on welcoming families and I really wanted to create something fun for young visitors. When guests arrive we light candles and play music as they enter the Wizard Chambers - it's a great way to give families a unique stay,” Serena told the Independent.
