Did Cheney hush up top-secret operation against Al-Qaeda?

Former US Vice President Dick Cheney is under pressure after US intelligence officials claimed he ordered Congress be kept in the dark about a counter-terrorism program.

Leaked information revealed the top-secret operation was set up eight years ago to assassinate Al-Qaeda leaders.

“There were several operations, I think, that we suspected – one would expect them after such an attack as 9/11,” said Lawrence Wilkerson, retired US. Army Colonel and Chief of Staff to former US Secretary of State Colin Powell.

“The particular one that concerned us is that the State Department involved deployment of covert actors into regions and countries without having informed our ambassador, indeed without having informed anyone in the country, sometimes even the regional military commander responsible. And this gave us some concern that the US teams were being deployed in other countries without knowledge of anyone other that those making the decision”.
