White House to collect personal info from social networks

Public watchdogs in America say they've uncovered a secret plan by the White House to harvest personal information from social networking sites like Facebook.

The White House is allegedly planning a 12-month contract with social networking sites. People whose information would be retrieved may not be notified, and there would be no restriction on how the White House uses the information.

Lawyer Nicole Kardell told RT that the White House is going to look mainly for information posted by the executive office of the president. At the same time, she added, people should be fully aware that their personal information could be collected.
