Jack-o'-Lantern mayhem: Pumpkin fest leads to drunken injuries, arrests (VIDEO)

An annual pumpkin festival in New Hampshire turned into mayhem after drunk revelers started throwing jack-o'-lanterns, bottles, and rocks, and overturning cars. The rowdiness led to about 30 injuries and dozens of arrests.

Footage from RT's Ruptly agency shows youths jumping on the roof of a car while others overturn a van. Riot police are visible in the video, and clouds of tear gas and pepper spray can be seen in the air.

Disturbances broke out Saturday night and lasted until the early hours of Sunday morning near Keene State College, which was hosting the 24th Pumpkin Festival.

“I got hit with a Jack Daniel bottle, like across the face,” Roger Creekmore, a student at Keene State College, told WMUR-TV, a CNN affiliate based in Manchester, New Hampshire.

“It’s just like a rush. You’re revolting from the cops. It’s a blast to do things that you’re not supposed to do,” Steven French, an 18-year-old visiting from Massachusetts, told the Keene Sentinel.

Ellen Murray told the Boston Globe that she was at a party Saturday night when people started throwing things.

“People were just throwing anything they could find – rocks, skateboards, buckets, pumpkins. People just got too drunk,” she said.
