School-leavers across Russia say goodbye to the classroom

School proms are kicking off all across Russia. In Moscow alone, 42,000 school-leavers will be celebrating the event.

This is the day when school-leavers get their diplomas with school transcripts. After congratulations from the school principal and teaching staff, teenagers will go on excursions to take pictures at Moscow’s famous locations. Popular sites that teens visit on this day in Moscow are Red Square, Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill and the Sparrow Hills.

Concerts will also be held at Moscow’s key arenas to celebrate the day.

In the evening, students traditionally will be heading to restaurants and clubs to party all through the night.

Those who have finished school with excellent marks are also invited to attend the prom hosted by the city’s mayor on June 25.
