“The Wall fell because of the pressure of the people from inside”

In early autumn 1989, demonstrations began every Monday in Leipzig, demanding ‘We are one nation’, recalls Martina Weidemann, a journalist and independent entrepreneur. And that preceded the fall of the Berlin Wall.

And the courage of the German people who made the Berlin Wall collapse a reality should inspire the country to be more assertive and independent in its politics now, journalist Christoph Horstel told RT.

“We should say ‘No’ to the Afghan issue, we should not have our troops there. We should say ‘No’ if America wants to attack and overrun another country, maybe Iran; we should not be part of that game again and if America has another idea like they had in the Congo in recent months, we should also say ‘No’,” he said.
