CSKA claim silver in Russian Premier League

Another Wagner Love hat-trick has secured CSKA Moscow the runners-up spot on the penultimate match day of Russia’s Premier League. Dinamo Moscow’s away draw with last year’s champions Zenit gave Dinamo a long-awaited bronze. At the other end of the table,

CSKA Moscow 4-0 Rubin

Wagner love just can’t stop scoring. Three goals from the Brazilian international gave CSKA all the points in a game with this year’s champions Rubin at the Luzhniki Stadium. He scored four in his previous game against city rivals FC Moscow. Wagner Love is the league’s leading scorer with 20 goals.

Having secured the title, it seems Rubin have all but given up playing. The team from Kazan team have now lost two games in a row.

The win means CSKA qualify for the group stage of next season’s Champions League along with Rubin.

Zenit Saint Petersburg 1-1 Dinamo Moscow

Zenit had a long season which culminated in victories in both the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. But it appeared Dick Advocaat’s men didn’t have the energy to finish the Premier League season on a high note.

The game at the Petrovsky stadium was tight. Dinamo finally broke the deadlock when Fernandez scored on 53 minutes. Zenit could only equalize, Tekke made it 1-1.

The score means Dinamo claim the bronze medals and will play in the qualifying round of the Champions Leagues.

Luch-Energia Vladivostok 2-2 Spartak Moscow

The Premier League sides will not have to make long and exhausting eight-hour flights to Vladivostok next season as the local team Luch Energia has be relegated along with Shinnik Yaroslavl.

The home team was 2-1 up seconds before the final whistle but Spartak’s Maidana put in the equalizer.

Tom Tomsk 0-1 Amkar Perm

The only goal of the game in Tomsk came from Martin Kuchev’s penalty.

Spartak Nalchik 1-2 Khimki Moscow Region

Khimki stay in the top flight despite conceding a goal on the first minute of the match. It took the Moscow Region side 14 minutes to level the score. After the break Czech gave them a 2-1 win.

Lokomotiv Moscow 3-2 FC Moscow

The Moscow derby decided nothing as both teams may consider the current season a complete failure. It was all Lokomotiv in the first half. The Railway boys scored three goals, two of them coming from Russian international Dmitry Sychev.

And it was all FC Moscow after the break. But two goals scored by the Citizens were not enough for a draw.

Dinamo moves one step closer to Champions League
