The News with Rick Sanchez - July 3, 2019 (20:00 ET)

Venezuelan corruption scandal tied to Guaido

Rick Sanchez reminds us of how the neocons in Washington repeatedly tried in vain to install opposition leader Juan Guaido in Venezuela’s presidency against the wishes of Venezuelans themselves and opposition from Russia and China. Guaido is currently embroiled in controversy following public awareness of an embezzlement-scandal wherein aid funds were grossly misused by officials in his orbit.

Caracas reporter on why Maduro opposition imploding again

Political analyst Lucas Koerner joins Rick Sanchez to discuss the news of the deepening embezzlement scandal involving supporters of Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido. He discusses how it has led to a fracturing of the movement against President Maduro and argues that Washington has invested too much in Guaido’s presidential aspirations to “back pedal” on its Venezuela posture.

Gregory Elich of the Korea Policy Institute joins Rick Sanchez to discuss efforts to denuclearize North Korea and President Trump’s overtures of friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. He points out that a lot of North Korean defectors have been discredited and this adds to the difficulty in separating truth from falsehood when it comes to the Hermit Kingdom.
