A 'chilling effect on media freedom' is the reaction to a new law proposed by the UK government, which could threaten investigative journalists with prison if they expose state secrets. Devastation in China - from what's being called the 'worst flooding in 1,000 years' caused dozens of deaths, wiped out infrastructure and breached dams. And, bad weather elsewhere too: the German government is slammed for 'not doing more' to prevent last week's deadly flooding there, despite previous warnings. The devastation has claimed almost 200 lives, and caused damage amounting to billions of euro.
