White house makes bankers eat “humble pie”

President Barack Obama met with the nation’s top bankers at the White House and pressed them to take measures to speed up economic recovery.

The President also reminded them that it was their own fault the country's entire banking system was taken to the brink of collapse.

“The headline was that Obama was encouraging the bankers to lend more to small businesses,” said Tim Carney from the CATO Institute. “Lending to small businesses is great, but when we look at what Obama has done so far, the biggest thing he can do to help small businesses is to stop this raft of more regulations and more taxes.”
