“Afghans do not support the Taliban”

There is hope that the new US strategy in Afghanistan will be successful, said Lawrence Korb of the Center for American Progress.

“The Afghan people do not support the Taliban, they want another alternative, and if we can provide them the security that they don’t have to follow the Taliban, I think that things can be turned around,” he said.

“We can do everything right, but if you don’t have a legitimate government in Kabul that is seen as supporting the people and not corrupt, then it does not matter what you do,” he added.
