New START treaty will be ratified by Americans - expert

The treaty will be ratified - the question is the timetable, says Scott Bates, vice president of the Center for National Policy.

“But right now the Democrats have 59 seats in the US Senate – they just need a few more Republican votes and on this issue there already are voices like Senator Lugar – very respected on the Republican side, who support this treaty,” he stated.

Bates added that “the Republican opposition is not unified – there are a lot of different voices on this issue”.
