Military musicians start Victory Parade rehearsals

Over 1,500 musicians from the Consolidated Orchestral Regiment of Russia’s Defense Ministry have started rehearsals for the Victory Parade to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.

The first workout is traditionally held on Khodynka Field in Moscow. The best artists of the garrison will hone their skills in the performance of World War II tunes for the next month.

For the first time in the history of the Victory Parade, it will be attended not only by Russian musicians, but also military bands from the Allied Forces – Britain, France and the US.

The 2010 parade is expected to turn out an even more spectacular event than last year’s, when over 9,000 soldiers and more than 100 vehicles participated.

One of the highlights of the event, which will be broadcast live on national television, should be the first demonstration of the Topol-M nuclear missile launcher.

The parade will take place on the Red Square on May 9.
